These regulations require that refrigerant-containing systems are serviced, leak-tested, and maintained by certified engineers — and that records are kept for each system. This service is for businesses and homeowners with installed air conditioning systems that require annual maintenance to maintain efficiency, comply with regulations, and protect manufacturer warranties. It applies to all refrigerant-based systems including split units, multi-splits, VRF/VRV, and portable systems containing more than the minimum charge threshold. During a service, we clean filters and coils, check refrigerant charge and pressures, test for leaks, inspect electrical connections, verify drainage, and calibrate controls. Systems containing 5 tonnes CO2 equivalent or more of refrigerant are subject to mandatory leak checking intervals under F-Gas regulations. We are REFCOM registered and hold the appropriate Category 1 F-Gas certification for installation, maintenance, servicing, recovery, and leak checking of all fluorinated greenhouse gas equipment. ## What Happens If You Wait? Operating an air conditioning system containing fluorinated refrigerant without proper maintenance records is a regulatory offence. The Environment Agency enforces F-Gas regulations in England, and non-compliance can result in enforcement notices, fines, and system decommissioning orders. Systems containing 5–50 tonnes CO2e require annual leak checks. Systems above 50 tonnes CO2e require six-monthly checks. We calculate the CO2e for each system based on the refrigerant type and charge amount. Common refrigerants in air conditioning systems include R410A (GWP 2088), R32 (GWP 675), and R407C (GWP 1774). As the F-Gas phase-down progresses, the availability and cost of high-GWP refrigerants like R410A is increasing. We advise on the long-term implications for systems using these refrigerants. Leak testing is performed using calibrated electronic refrigerant detectors sensitive to the specific refrigerant type in use. For suspected leaks that are difficult to locate, we use UV dye injection, soap-bubble testing, or nitrogen pressure testing with electronic pressure logging. Filter servicing involves removing, cleaning, or replacing the air filters in each indoor unit. In commercial environments with higher dust and particulate loads, filters may need more frequent attention. We advise on optimal replacement intervals based on the operating environment. Condenser coils on outdoor units accumulate dirt, leaves, and debris that restrict airflow and reduce heat rejection. We clean condenser coils using low-pressure water and approved cleaning agents that do not damage the aluminium fins.
