    What This Service Covers

Emergency heat pump repairs cover urgent callouts for systems that have failed completely — leaving you without heating, hot water, or both. Unlike scheduled repairs, emergencies require immediate attendance and on-the-spot diagnosis with the tools, knowledge, and parts to resolve the issue quickly.

This service is for homeowners and businesses who cannot wait for a standard appointment. If your heat pump has stopped working during cold weather, is displaying critical fault codes, or has failed outside normal business hours, this is the service you need.

Craig Ball understands that a heat pump failure in winter is not an inconvenience — it is an urgent problem affecting your family's comfort and wellbeing. That is why Appian Heat Pumps offers genuine 24/7 emergency response, not an answering service that books you in for next week.

We carry a comprehensive stock of common replacement parts and diagnostic equipment in our service vehicle, enabling us to resolve the majority of emergency faults in a single visit.

    What Happens If You Wait?

A heat pump failure in January or February means no heating and no hot water. For families with young children, elderly residents, or anyone with health conditions, this is more than discomfort — it can be a genuine safety concern.

Calling a general plumber or heating engineer for a heat pump emergency often results in a wasted visit. Without heat pump specific training, they cannot diagnose refrigerant circuit faults, inverter failures, or PCB issues. You pay for a visit that ends with a shrug.

Every hour your heat pump is down in freezing conditions increases the risk of secondary problems — frozen pipes, condensate blockages, and in extreme cases, burst pipes causing water damage.

Waiting until Monday for a standard appointment when your system fails on Friday evening means 60+ hours without heating. With a young family or an elderly relative, that is not acceptable.

    How We Work

    1

    Immediate Phone Response

Call 07481 552059. We answer or call back within 30 minutes. We discuss the symptoms and, where possible, advise on temporary measures while we mobilise.

    2

    Fast Attendance

We aim to attend within 4 hours for emergencies in Hampshire. For out-of-area or extreme weather, we communicate realistic timescales upfront.

    3

    On-Site Diagnosis

Full diagnostic process including error code analysis, refrigerant pressures, electrical testing, and system history review to identify the fault accurately.

    4

    Same-Visit Repair

Where possible, we carry out the repair during the emergency visit. We carry common parts and consumables to maximise first-visit fix rates.

    5

    Follow-Up If Required

If a specialist part needs ordering, we advise on interim measures (backup heating, immersion heater activation) and schedule the return as quickly as possible.

    Why It Matters

    Genuine 24/7 Availability

Not an answering machine — a real response from the engineer who will attend. Evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.

    Specialist Diagnosis

Your system is attended by someone who works on heat pumps every day — not a generalist guessing at the problem.

    High First-Visit Fix Rate

We carry the most common failure parts for major brands, enabling us to resolve the majority of emergencies on the first visit.

    Honest Communication

We tell you upfront what to expect — realistic attendance times, transparent pricing, and clear explanations of the fault.

    Interim Support

If a same-day fix is not possible, we help you set up backup heating and schedule the return visit at the earliest opportunity.

    No Unnecessary Costs

We diagnose the actual fault and fix it. No replacing parts on speculation, no repeat visits for the same problem.

    Technical Detail & Expertise

The most common emergency faults we attend are compressor failures (locked rotor, open windings, or tripped overload), PCB failures preventing start-up, refrigerant leaks causing low-pressure lockout, frozen evaporator coils due to failed defrost cycles, and electrical supply issues including tripped MCBs and RCDs.

Compressor failures can sometimes be resolved by replacing a start capacitor or run capacitor rather than the compressor itself. Correct diagnosis at this stage saves significant cost. We test capacitor values and winding resistance before recommending compressor replacement.

Refrigerant leaks that cause emergency failure have usually been developing over time. During the emergency visit, we locate the leak, carry out the repair where possible, and recharge the system. Electronic leak detection and nitrogen pressure testing are used to confirm the repair.

PCB (printed circuit board) failures can be caused by power surges, moisture ingress, or component fatigue. We carry replacement PCBs for the most common Mitsubishi, Daikin, and Samsung models. For less common boards, next-day parts delivery is usually available.

In extreme cold, heat pumps can suffer from frozen condensate pipes or iced-up evaporator coils that fail to defrost. These are often caused by incorrect defrost settings or blocked drainage rather than a fundamental system fault. We resolve the immediate issue and adjust settings to prevent recurrence.

For commercial properties — offices, care homes, retail premises — we understand that heating failure affects operations, occupants, and in some cases, regulatory compliance (care homes must maintain minimum temperatures). Commercial emergencies are prioritised accordingly.
